Update From SWR Re: Amended Train Services

South Western Railway (SWR) have provided a further update on the Hook landslip and their amended service over the weekend and into next week.
• Network Rail will undertake emergency work on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 January 2023 to provide more capacity or services from Monday 23
• On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22, buses will replace trains between Basingstoke and Woking
• When complete, the weekend work will enable SWR to restore through trains from the south west to Waterloo on Monday 23 January, albeit with a reduced frequency
• SWR is advising customers to only travel if absolutely necessary between Basingstoke and Woking until the end of Sunday 22 January
If the weekend’s repair work by Network Rail is successful, SWR will be able to reinstate some direct services from Weymouth, Exeter and Portsmouth Harbour (via Eastleigh).
However, the short-term solution at Hook will not deliver the previous full capacity of the four-track railway between Basingstoke and Woking. As a result, customers should expect a reduced frequency of services and some alterations to service patterns.
After a week of no services, SWR intends to restore a limited rail service at Hook, Winchfield and Fleet stations.
The full service will be announced as soon as possible, and customers should check for the latest information.
