Thank you to everyone who helped, took part or attended our AVM (Annual Village Meeting) last night. It was great to be back and to see so many people including some new faces, in amongst the familiar ones. Our Guest speakers gave some really informative talks. We also had over 20 Local Groups exhibiting and it was a fantastic opportunity to find out more about them. It was heartwarming to be able to give our award winners their long-awaited awards for the work they have done in our community.
The winners were:
Community Award 2020 – Positive Action Against Transport Cuts for saving the School Bus to Robert Mays School
Community Award 2021 – Hook In Bloom for the stunning poppy drapes and for providing year-round flowers in the village.
The Councilors couldn’t decide between two of the nominations for Outstanding Covid Response as both groups were worthy winners so they awarded an award to them both. These were In My Cupboard In HOOK a Facebook group that rehomes items for free or helps people find things that may be in short supply and shares them and Hook & Odiham Lions Club for all the work they did during Covid which included over 500 Hours of marshall at vaccination centres and computers for children when they had to home school. The council also awarded a Certificate of Merit to Whitewater Health Patient Participation Group for all their work in communicating information from the Doctors to patients during the pandemic.
All our committee meetings are open to the public and you are welcome to attend. We release the agendas for our meetings the week before and these can be found on our website https://hook.gov.uk/about-hook-parish-council/pc-committee-meetings/agendas/ and noticeboards.
We look forward to seeing you next year or at one of our Committee Meetings.
