Public Space Protection Order for dog fouling – Consultation

Hart District Council is currently running a consultation on the issue of a Public Space Protection Order for dog fouling.
The Protection Order can be used to help control behaviours that are having, or are likely to have, a harmful effect on a local community’s quality of life.
They are proposing to renew the current district-wide Public Space Protection Order.
It is proposed that the Order will apply to all publicly accessible land within Hart District.
The Order will require dog owners or anyone with a dog in their care to clear up and dispose of the dog’s faeces. It also enables a person to be served with a Fixed Penalty Notice if they either fail to clear up and dispose of their dog’s faeces, or, if they fail to have the appropriate means to clear up after fouling occurs.
The Order is proposed to last for a period of three years.
The public consultation is running until 5pm on Monday 2 October
