Monthly Bulletin: January 2022

Happy New Year

We hope all of our residents have had a safe and enjoyable Christmas and New Year.  At the time of writing, our offices are due to re-open on Tuesday 4th January at 9am.  Please see our website, App and Facebook for the latest information.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Hart District Council (HDC) will be running their Christmas Tree recycling scheme for real Christmas Trees again this year. The collection point for Hook will be at Crossways Manor Car Park, Hook (by Whitewater Surgery).  Please take your tree to the collection point and place it in the cordoned-off area.  HDC’s team will remove the trees on a regular basis.  There are other collection points across Hart District.  Please contact HDC on 01252 622122 or https://www.hart.gov.uk/festive-bin-collections  for more information.

Alternatively, if you subscribe to the Green Waste Subscription Service, you will be able to leave your tree out with your first green bin collection after Christmas.  Garden waste collections had a break over Christmas and will be restarting on Monday 10th January 2022.

The Scouts are also running their Christmas Tree recycling scheme please contact them directly for more information.

Every year, we allocate money in our budget to make provision for grants that local groups and organisations can apply for, to support projects that benefit Hook residents. Previous recipients include Hook Shed, Hook in Bloom and Hook Bowling Club.  We still have some funds available for this financial year, ending 31st March 2022.  If you know of a group, organisation or charity that works with residents in Hook and may benefit from a grant, please go to https://hook.gov.uk/about-hook-parish-council/council-publications/documents/ and look under grants for our policy and application form.

The Parish Council and its Committees meet on a regular basis.  The details and dates can be found on our website, App and noticeboards https://hook.gov.uk/about-hook-parish-council/pc-committee-meetings/calendar-of-meetings .  Our website also provides more details on what each of the committees is responsible for and the agendas for each one are published on our noticeboards and website a few days before each meeting.

Annual Report & Annual Village Meeting

We will soon be putting together our Annual Report that will be distributed to every household in Hook.  We are always looking for more images to use within our documentation and social media/App/website.  If you have taken any pictures of Hook that you would be happy for us to use, please send them to info@hook.gov.uk.

We are hopeful that after a two year break we will be able to hold the Annual Village Meeting (AVM) this year.  We have provisionally booked 7:30pm on Wednesday 11th May at Hook Community Centre.
