COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS
It is all systems go for the Hook’s Community Christmas Lunch in support of Hook Parish Council’s theme for December – Combating Loneliness. Sadly, for many people, Christmas is a time that they feel most isolated, so in Hook we want to help alleviate this.
To book your place, to volunteer to help (before or on Christmas Day) or for donations, please call or email: by 16th December.
We need help with transport, cooking, serving, clearing away, organising carol singing and games. We plan also e to have a Christmas tree and decorations.
A recent survey found that nearly half a million people will spend Christmas Day alone. The hope is that connections forged at this festive gathering can last, create friendships and enable those in the neighbourhood to avoid feelings of isolation in the future.
HOOK HOPPA
The new Hook Hoppa has seen an increase in repeat customers and new people using the service, but numbers are not currently sufficient to make the service viable long term.
We are looking at adjustments to the route, but for the service to be retained, it needs to be used frequently – remember the saying ‘use it or lose it’!
Copies of the timetable have been delivered to every household and are available at pick up points around Hook, including Tesco, doctors’ surgery and the Parish Council Office.
KEEP CALM AND CHAT TO A COUNCILLOR
If you would like to have an informal chat with a Parish Councillor about anything relating to Hook, please join us in Hartletts Café on the 4th Tuesday of every month in from 6 – 7pm. The next one is on Tuesday 4th January. Further dates are:

NEW COUNCILLOR
Lee Haddock was co-opted to the Council on 2nd November. He moved to Hook in 2014, but has worked in Hook for 5 years. He is married with two children.
He is a Director of a firm of Chartered Quantity Surveyors, so has a particular interest in the planning aspects of the parish Council’s work. His considerable experience will be of great benefit to Hook as it develops in the future.
CHRISTMAS PREPARATION and INFORMATION
For Christmas refuse collections please go to the Hart District website to find out when your rubbish will be collected – www.hart.gov.uk/household-waste.
If you have a real Christmas tree please dispose of it sensibly. Look out for Hart’s Christmas tree recycling advice, cut it up into small pieces and put in you green waste bin, or ring 7th Bramshill Hook Scout Group on 01256 469236 from 9am on 4th to 6th January and they will come and collect it on 7th January for a small donation of £3.50. Just leave your tree outside your property with an envelope containing your donation tied to the tree.
Don’t forget to lock up your property, including sheds and garages, over Christmas so that burglars are not tempted to break in whilst you are away or help themselves to your lovely presents. Leave a security light on, make sure your doors are properly locked and your presents are out of sight.
CHRISTMAS OFFICE CLOSING DATES
The Council Offices will be closed from noon on Friday 23rd December and will re-open on Tuesday 3rd January. We would like to take this opportunity of wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
