Hook Neighbourhood Plan
There was a good turnout at the Referendum Vote for the Hook Neighbourhood plan that was held on the 7th October. It was an overwhelming 96% of the votes cast were “Yes” to the Neighbourhood Plan. This will now go to Hart District Council to be approved into Planning Policy.
Closure of Community Centre car park
The Annual Hook Schools Parents Association Fire Show and Fireworks will take place on Saturday 9th November. Hartletts Park car park will be closed from 4pm until the conclusion of the firework display for safety reasons. Please remove all vehicles from the car park before 4pm, when the barrier will be locked.
Hook Village scoops 5 awards at The Hampshire & Isle Of Wight Village Of The Year Competition
Hook won five awards at this year’s ‘Hampshire & IOW Village of the Year’ competition, which was sponsored by Fullers Brewery. The awards ceremony for the annual competition, organised by the Hampshire Association of Local Councils, was held at Chandlers Ford on 25th September.
Hook’s tally of awards included:
- Winner, ‘Excellence in Community Engagement’ (Steven Lugg Trophy) for the Hook App
- Winner, ‘Most Inspirational Person’ – Sue Hinton
- Runner-up, ‘Best Open Space’ for Hook in Bloom
- Highly Commended, ‘Best Community Initiative’ for ‘Hook Books’
and finally, - Runner-up in the coveted ‘Overall Best Hampshire & Isle of Wight Village of the Year 2019’ category, which was won by Bishops Waltham.
These awards recognise the dedication and selfless work of the many volunteers in Hook, whose caring residents embody a true community spirit which makes our village such a friendly and happening place to live.
Remembrance Sunday and Poppies on lampposts
The annual service at the Church and Memorial will take place on Sunday 10th November. The Parish Council will lay a wreath at the War Memorial at the 9.00 am service, as per usual and at the St John’s service at 10.15 am.
The Parish Council will fly the Union Jack flag on the Flagpole in Hartletts Park (opposite the Community Centre) throughout the weekend.
Echo Hotel Music Club/Hook Live
At the time of writing the final gig in the 2019 Echo Hotel Music Club (EHMC) programme, The Mentulls supported by Little Geneva is due to take place on Saturday 2nd November. Community Christmas
Bookings now open for the Hook Community Christmas Lunch on 25th December. Anyone, of any age, who will be alone on Christmas Day is welcome. Please join the party and tuck into a delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, have some fun, take part carol singing and enjoy good company. Transport can be arranged on request.
