Monthly Bulletin: November 2018

Closure of Hartletts Park

The Annual Hook Schools Parents Association Fire Show and Fireworks will take place on Saturday 3rd November.  Hartletts Park car park will be closed from 4pm until the conclusion of the firework display for safety reasons.  Please remove all vehicles from the car park before 4pm, when the barrier will be locked.

BBC Children In Need Rickshaw Challenge

The Parish Council is delighted and very excited to welcome the BBC Children in Need Rickshaw Challenge to the village on the 11th November.  We would love to know if any Hook residents, companies or teams will be taking part, either riding with the rickshaw or doing their own challenge.

Please keep an eye out for more announcements on the Parish Council Facebook page and the News section of the App.

Remembrance Sunday

The Annual service at the Church and Memorial will take place on Sunday 11th November.   The Parish Council will lay a wreath at the War Memorial at the 9.00 am service, as per usual and at the St John’s service at 12 noon.

As this year is the 100 years since the end of the First World, to mark this occasion the Parish Council has installed a new bench at the War Memorial, and will be raising the Union Jack Flag on the new Flagpole at the Community Centre.  Our kind thanks to Rawlings Transport for funding the Flag Pole to the Parish Council

The Hook Scouts/Guides, St John’s Church and other groups are also marking the centenary.

Neighbourhood Plan

The Neighbourhood Plan is moving forward apace. There are only minor details still to be agreed eg. the photos and maps to be used.  The final draft is expected to be approved by the Parish Council on 7th November 2018.

A six-week consultation period will follow, when residents and statutory consultees will be given the opportunity to comment on the plan.

The dates and consultation venues will be published on the Parish Council noticeboards, website (www.hook.gov.uk) and http://neighbourhoodplan.hook.gov.uk/.

It is important to have as many residents come along to the consultation events to tell the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group what you think.

Community Christmas

Bookings are still available for the Community Christmas Lunch on Christmas Day.  Anyone, of any age, who will be alone on Christmas Day is welcome.  Please join the party and tuck in to a delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, have some fun, take part carol singing and enjoy good company.  Transport can be arranged on request.

If you think you may be alone on 25th December, or if you know of someone who will be, then please contact the Parish Council office.

New Parish Councillor

It was anticipated that the Councillor vacancy would be filled at the October Council meeting, but as the only candidate was unable to attend that Meeting, he will not now be appointed at the November meeting.   A brief resume about the new councillor will be in December’s Focus.
