Outstanding Covid Response Award

As part of the Annual Village Meeting, we award a Community Award to either a group or individual who has given service to the community on an entirely voluntary basis and over a sustained period.

Over the past two years we have lived in extraordinary times and we are aware of a number of groups and individuals within the village who have organised or been part of many activities that helped others in regards to the pandemic. This year we would like to present an award to a group or individual who has shown an “Outstanding Covid Response”. We would like our residents to nominate individuals or groups they feel should receive the award. The nomination form can be found here, under other documents https://hook.gov.uk/about…/council-publications/documents/

Please ensure we receive any nominations by 23rd March. These will then be taken to Council to discuss and decide on the worthy winner.

Annual Village Meeting

After a two year break (due to Covid) we are planning to hold our Annual Village Meeting again on Wednesday 11th May 2022 between 7:15pm – 10pm at Hook Community Centre, Ravenscroft, Hook.  This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to gain a greater understanding of the wide variety of groups and organisations in Hook and to discuss specific issues with the relevant people.  We are fortunate to have support from a wide range of groups and hope this will continue this year to make the evening attractive to as wide an audience as possible.

The format will remain the same as previous years in the form of an exhibition which opens to the public at 7:15pm when refreshments (wine, soft drinks and nibbles) are available.  This is followed at 8pm by reports or presentations from guest speakers and a formal Q & A session, during which questions of general interest are answered.  The evening is usually closed by 10 pm.

The form to apply for a table/stall can be found on our website at https://hook.gov.uk/about-hook-parish-council/council-publications/documents/ under other documents (AVM 2022 Exhibitor Booking Form).  There is no charge to have a stall.  Tables, as always, are in short supply due to limited capacity and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.  If you wish to have a table please can you complete and return the form by 1st April to ensure your presence at the event appears in our advertising material.  If you do not wish to stay for the meeting, please can you indicate this either on the form or via the email as we will look to place your stall away from the main hall.

Outdoor Gym

The very popular outdoor gym located in Hartletts Park is undergoing a service on 8th March.  The gym will be closed whilst the contractors undertake this.

North-East Hook Sports Pavilion

Hook Parish Council (HPC) will shortly be taking ownership of the sports pitch site at the NE Hook development. With this in mind, it was prudent last year to start making plans to build a sports pavilion on the site and in December 2021 HPC selected their preferred architect to start the preliminary stages of design.  It is anticipated that a wider range of sport in Hook should be made available and it may be possible to offer an additional Shed facility on site. The Council has formed a Committee to focus on the delivery of a pavilion facility to serve the users of the pitches and will soon be in receipt of the architects initial findings.  Thereafter, should the Council decide to push ahead with what is an exciting prospect for residents, further details will come to light during the early planning and consultation phase.
