Hart Local Plan – The Hart Local Plan Strategy and Sites 2016-2032 Proposed Submission Version is out for consultation until 4pm on 26 March 2018.   This stage of consultation is part of the legal process. Your comments will be considered by a Planning Inspector, who will be looking at specific aspects of the Plan.  Please read the guidance note that accompanies the response form before submitting your comments.   All the information, documentation and response form is on the Hart District Council’s website at www.hart.gov.uk/Local-Plan-Publication-2018

New Staff member – The Parish Council are pleased to announce the appointment of Serena Dolby to the Parish Council Office.  She will be taking up the role of part time Bookkeeper.  Serena has lived and worked in Hook for a number of years and we are delighted to welcome her to the Team.

Cemetery Memorial Testing – Under the Parish Council’s duty of care and upkeep of burial grounds, memorial assessments will be undertaken in the near future in both Hook cemeteries.   In some cases it may be necessary to lay the stones flat, in others remedial work may be required to ensure safety.  To ensure work is carried out sensitively, if you know of, or have any connection with a grave in either cemetery, or have any concerns regarding the memorial works please contact the Parish Council office as soon as possible.

RAF 100 celebrations in Odiham – Saturday 9th June 2018 – As part of the celebrations for the centenary of the Royal Air Force, a Box Cart Race event is being planned for the morning of Saturday 9th June 2018.

Teams will compete in a luge style box cart event, starting one at a time in a time trial. There will also be a Box Cart competition.   As well as general build and design quality, carts will be judged on 2 additional criteria:

  • The level of RAF theming.
  • The lengths they have gone to, to achieve the RAF theme.

There will also be a 200 table street party after the race and we will publish more information about this in due course.

Hook Parish Council would like to enter at least one cart.  Teams including pilots, crew and design/builders are needed.   If you would like more information or to be part of a team to represent Hook’s close relationship with RAF Odiham over its history, please register your interest at: . ASAP as we don’t have long to plan and build the cart.

Hook Neighbourhood Plan – The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group held two public consultations on the first Draft of the Hook Neighbourhood Plan during January.  See page x for update.

Hook Community Award – Nominations for the 2018 Community Award should be submitted using the Application Form on our website, by post to the Parish Council Office or emailed to .  Closing date for nominations is by 27th April 2018.

Annual Village Meeting – Wednesday 23rd May at 8:30pm – More details of the 2018 Annual Village Meeting will be published in the April issue of Focus, but if your organisation would like to participate in the exhibition which takes place before the formal meeting, please contact .

Hook Village Show – Sunday 15th July – Following on from the success of last years’ show, the event will be held again in Hartletts Park, but on Sunday 15th July 12 noon until 5 pm.   It will be organised in partnership with the Hook and Odiham Lions.  There will also be a Craft Fair in the Community Centre that HVHCA (Hook Village Halls Charitable Association).  If you would like a stall in Hartletts Park please email .   If you would like a stall in the Community Centre, please email

Hook Road Race and Fun Run – A reminder that the Community Centre Car Park will be CLOSED on Sunday 20th May, for the Annual Hook Road Race and Fun Run.  See page x for more information.
