Annual Report and Village Events & Entertainment Survey

Every household in Hook should have received a copy of the Annual Report, which included the Village Events and Entertainment Survey.  Residents have given a fantastic response to the survey.  Thanks to all of you who completed this questionnaire and for your helpful and interesting comments.  Once the data had been collated and analysed the results will be reported in the future edition of Focus.

Further copies of the Annual Report are available either as a paper copy from the Parish Council Offices or it can be viewed online at https://hook.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Annual-Report-2017-18-Village-Events-Entertainment-Survey-2018.pdf

Litter Pick

Well done to Hook Runners who organised and ran another Community Litter Pick on Sunday 13th May.   More than 40 volunteers (including non-Hook Runners) took part and collected over thirty bags of rubbish from the ten-mile Fun Run route.  The rubbish included two tyres and a bicycle frame.  Sadly, several piles of dog waste were found in the Hartletts Park (which the volunteers cleaned up).  Please ensure you pick up after your dog; the Parish Council provides free dog bags for this purpose and the waste can be disposed of in ANY public rubbish bin.

Our thanks to Hart District Council who provided the litter pick sticks and bags and took away all the rubbish collected.  Thank you also, to all the volunteers who gave up some of their Sunday to take part.

If you have an event that you would like to promote via our App or Facebook page, contact us at or 01256 768687 for more details.

Domestic waste being dumped in bins

There has been a significant increase in domestic waste being dumped in public rubbish bins, Crossways Car Park (Dr Surgery) and garden waste tipped over fences onto public land.  This results in valuable public money is being spent clearing and disposing of this waste.  There are two local Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC’s) that you can take excess household or garden waste to.  These are:

Hartley Wintney – Springwell Lane, RG27 8BW

BasingstokeWade Road, RG24 8PL

For opening times and more information go to https://www.hants.gov.uk/wasteandrecycling/recyclingcentres and type in your post code or call 0300 555 1375.

Alternatively, you can contact Hart District Council to enquire about obtaining a larger rubbish or recycling bin or to arrange for them to collect items (this is chargeable).  Please go to https://www.hart.gov.uk/household-waste or call 01252 622122.  You can also sign up to their garden waste Curbside Collection Scheme (this is also chargeable) https://www.hart.gov.uk/garden-waste
