Monthly Bulletin: December 2021

Christmas Closure

Subject to any Government restrictions, it is planned that the Parish Council office will be closed from 12 noon on Friday 24th December (Christmas Eve) and will reopen on Tuesday 4th January at 9am.  Please see our website, App and Facebook for the latest information.

Christmas Refuse collections

At the time of writing, Hart District Council (HDC) have advised that due to the days that both Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall (at a weekend), there will be no change this year to refuse collection dates.  Garden waste collections, however, will take a two week break as usual, from Monday 27th December, restarting Monday 10th January 2022.  Please keep checking HDC’s website for updates at https://www.hart.gov.uk/waste-recycling.

At present, HDC hasn’t advised if they will be running their Christmas Tree Recycling collection points this year. If you subscribe to the Green Waste Subscription service you will be able to leave your tree out with your first green bin collection after Christmas.  We also understand that the Scouts will be running their Christmas Tree recycling scheme.  Please contact them for details.  We will endeavour to publish updates for residents via our Facebook Page, App, website and our noticeboards, once Hart release this information to us.

Christmas Tree and Lights

At the time of writing, our contractors have installed our Christmas display of lights/motifs on the lampposts in the centre of the village, installed snowflakes, icicles and miniature Christmas trees at Grand Parade and will be installing the large Christmas tree there shortly.  The lights are due to be switched on from 26th November.

Poppies

We are sure many will agree how wonderful the poppy displays through Hook have looked this year, from poppies on lampposts, displays in the Community Centre windows to the crochet/knitted poppies on drapes created by Hook in Bloom and hung from our hanging basket stands. It was lovely to see so many residents of all ages working together on these village projects. Our thanks to everyone who took part.

Solar Lampposts

We have recently installed solar lampposts along the path past the wildflower patch in Mitchells Field.  We hope those that use this path are finding these new lights helpful, as the nights draw in.

Finally, the Parish Councillors and Office Staff would like to wish all our residents a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
