HOOK’S HEALTH & WELLBEING EVENT
Don’t forget to put Hook’s Health and Wellbeing Day on Saturday 20th May from 11.00am – 5.00pm, in Hook Community Centre in your diary. Hosted by the Parish Council, it is free to both exhibitors and visitors, and already nearly 30 exhibitors have signed up!
We are able hold the event again this year, thanks to the grant from the Big Lottery Fund Awards for All grant schemes. Last year’s feedback revealed that it was a great village networking opportunity, whether visiting or exhibiting. The event is a great chance to interact with, and find out about the great activities, organisations, charities and clubs operating in Hook. There are just a few spaces left so if your charity or organisation would like a free table please .
In addition to stands, there will be free first aid training, including how and when to use the defibrillator, first aid training and a host of other demonstrations. Refreshments will be available with proceeds going to Hook in Bloom. More details in future editions of Hook Focus.
ANNUAL VILLAGE MEETING
The Agenda for the Annual Village Meeting, on 24th May, will be published later in April. If you are involved with a local organisation and would like the opportunity to exhibit, please contact the Parish Council office as soon as possible. We are anticipating updates on both the Neighbourhood and Local Plans being a focus of the event.
WELLWORTH PARK
Designs are being prepared by 3-4 play equipment providers for replacement of the Wellworth Park play area. These will be on display for comment at the Annual Village meeting (see save the dates). Please come along and give us your views and preferences.
HART LOCAL PLAN
At the time of writing, the date for publication of the Draft Hart District Local Plan is not clear, but we believe it will be during April. Once published, there will be a six week consultation period. To enable Parish Councillors to prepare a response, we wish to hear the views of residents. In anticipation that the Plan will be available during April, we have provisionally arranged a display and consultation on Sunday 7th May in Hall 3 at Elizabeth Hall. Please check our noticeboards and website for confirmation of this date, in case publication of the draft Local Plan is delayed.
HOOK HOPPA AND LOCAL TRANSPORT
Although Capital Cars has renewed their operator license, usage numbers for the Hook Hoppa no longer justify the level of expense. We have been in contact with the regular users to assess their needs and the type of service that could be put in place instead of the Hoppa. If you have a specific need for transport in order to access services or facilities within Hook we would like to hear from you as soon as possible.
A Hart wide transport survey is being planned, in conjunction with other Parish and Town Councils. Watch out for more information on how to participate.
HOOK VILLAGE SHOW
Following the Parish Council’s decision to become more involved with Hook Village Show, a councillor lead working party has been formed. The group will help with the organisation of the Hartletts Park area for the show being held on Sunday 10th September. If any local organisations would like a stand at the show please email Councillor Chris Terrey on the special email address he has set up for the purpose – . All proceeds from the event will go to Hook In Bloom.
HELP SAVE THE HOOK CHRISTMAS CRACKER
This popular community event is entirely run by volunteers and a great deal of effort goes into making the Hook Christmas Cracker such a success. After a number of years of excellent work, some members of the organising team are standing down. We offer our thanks and good wishes go to them all.
Without enough people to organise the various aspects of the event, it is at risk of not taking place in December 2017. To secure the future of the Cracker, a number of people will need to join the remaining team.
The roles needed are: attracting sponsors, advertising/marketing, website and social media management, communications, stall holder bookings, treasurer and booking performers/ entertainment.
If you are interesting in offering your help with any aspect of the organisation, please email:
KEEP CALM AND CHAT TO A COUNCILLOR
If you would like to have an informal chat with a Parish Councillor, please join us in Hartletts Café on Tuesday 27th April.
HOOK FUN RUN
We are very pleased to see the Hook Fun Run return to Hartletts Park; now the events permanent home. This year it will be held on Sunday 21st May 2017. All such community events need volunteer help, none more so than the Fun Run with marshals needed to cover 13 miles of courses plus people to handle baggage, information and safety in Hartletts Park. If you, or someone you know, is able to spare an hour or two to help please contact the team via http://hookfunrun.com/contact-us/
