Referendum Polling Card – What’s it for?
The Referendum is the final stage in the process of getting the Hook Neighbourhood Plan adopted into Hart District Council’s Planning Policy. Over the last 5 years and following several public consultations and Examination by an Independent Inspector, Hart District Council approved the Plan to be taken to Referendum.
This is not an opportunity to comment or suggest amendments to the Plan. That took place during the previous consultations. Like all Neighbourhood Plans, it will be reviewed in due course.
By voting YES, you are giving a clear message to Hart that Hook wants the objectives and policies in the Plan to be adopted and used when they are considering planning matters in Hook. Some elements of the Plan, such as the Village Centre are concepts based on what the community aspirations. The detail of these will develop in the future and residents will then have the change to input into that process.
The Neighbourhood Plan documents can be viewed online –www.hart.gov.uk/Hook.
If you would like to show your support for the Plan by displaying a poster in your house window, various posters can be downloaded at http://hook.gov.uk/referendum-polling-card-whats-it-for/..
Wheel Stops – Hartletts Park
For some time, pedestrians using the footpath alongside the Car Park and Hartletts Park have had increasing difficult due to cars overhanging the pavement. Not only did this narrow the footpath, but there were several instances where pedestrians were knocked and near misses with double buggies, and small children on bikes.
It was not practical to widen the pavement, due to the location of streetlights, so rubber Wheel Stops were installed over the school holidays. This measure has had the desired effect. The full width of the footpath is now much safer for pedestrians, particularly during the morning and evening rush. We appreciate all the messages of thanks from parents and Community Centre users.
Driving forwards into spaces where possible, helps reduce amount of exhaust fumes being inhaled by pre-school children, babies in buggies or infant school children walking past. We would also like to remind drivers to switch their engines off when parked, waiting to pick children up from school, dance classes, The Base etc.
